Hello,
I have 2015 780 vnl, in the past year we had lots of things done to the truck yet we cant fogure out why it is loosing power and shaking at idle after hwy driving, never on cold start.
So power loosing happens only sometimes on hwy.
In past year we replaced:
Injectors
valves and cups,
dpf filer
dpf pump
nox sensors and bunch of others arroundengine
had reset on all learned scr data
turbo and vgt
change seals on exhaust pipes and cleared from all soot etc.
7th injector
checked for any cable issues and couldn't find any
Do you guys have any idea for what is happening to the truck, no codes in the truck, The only one thing I noticed is that turbo is at 0 on idle and its not turning on as it used to be before change.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Great advice, thanks

Bad ECM? Seems fine when cold, problems occur after it gets hot. Electronic components can do that.

Some dealers have a spare they’ll swap in for testing purposes.
There is also a spray can we used in electronics, it sprays a really cold non conducting aerosol onto components to see if you get a operational change while the unit is operating. I don’t know with the large heat sinks a ECM has if this would be able to cool it enough. But cheap enough to try a couple of cans. Could spray it on all the other sensors too.

Could be the egr valve acting, how old is it? with the engine hot, expanded materials in valve or springs, after driving maybe doesn't close properly allowing to much flow back at low rpm mesing the combustion. Venturi tube could be clogged or bad dif pressure sensor on venturi controlling the egr bad allows too much egr flow, but this usually throw codes. The most difficult to diagnose problem i had with D13, without throwing codes as you describe was egr valve stuck partially open, it's recommended to run the motor few min after stopping the truck allowing the egr to cool down.
Just a thought , don't take me serious wasting $$.Last edited: Sep 9, 2019
kwt600 and QUALITYTRUCK Thank this. -
Both options sound possible to me, for sure will check them, the egr sounds possible and I was thinking about it. For sure will check both ECM and EGR. Thanks for help.

Go to a dealer, pay for the time for a mechanic to do a ride along with their computer and have the ecm data recorded. This is how they find the problem.

Whoever gonna connect Volvo software to your truck next time make sure they do this 2 tests and do compression couple times one after another because on a second or third attempt some cylinders may drop significantly
