From what I’ve seen Magnum only uses forward facing cameras and there are no mic’s...Peoplenet does have a driver facing opinion that some companies use along with wing mirror cameras, but Magnum doesn’t use either.

All these driver monitoring devices are pretty much insurance driven. Magnum gets great rates while still being a training company. Honestly, it will be a few years or more before driver facing cameras are mandated but til then, if drivers do what they're supposed to do, it shouldn't be an issue. As far as being called by dispatch on the traffic stop in MN, anything could trigger that call. I seriously doubt anyone is "listening in" on a driver. Imagine how lucky a dm would have to be monitoring a call one truck while doing everything else they have to deal with during the day! A new driver might be monitored via GPS for a month or two and if it was a time sensitive load, DM or planner might call to find out why a truck is on the side of the road. Or the change in duty status from driving to on-duty not driving might alert dispatch...if that change was made. I've never had a problem with ops. Even when I got sick, good communication prevented anything happening that ops wasn't aware of beforehand. Western Plains, when are you coming back? I'm hoping to get back 9/22 and unfortunately will have to go through orientation again...my surgery recovery went a little long. Pm me and let me know what's up! For the one wondering about how long people have been driving, I've been in a seat since Jan 95. Magnum does what they say they will do and the slow speed and increase in accessorial pay is worth it. Drivers will have no problems if they stay safe and do the job. Glad to see everyone is ok! C'ya! I'll update when I know for sure when I'm headed back to the mother ship.

Magnum is self-insured. no excuse. it was on a Saturday and a DM called immediately right after I was pulled over even before the officer walked up to the truck. they were eavesdropping

there most certainly is Mics in the truck. I ran dual coaxials in my truck and had to go around the ELD system and ran back wiring and seen it with my own eyes. that Mic is not just connected to the peterbilt interface system so that you can talk on the phone utilizing Bluetooth. feel free to go look for yourself

Jeez, I sure hope I haven't hurt any dispatcher's feelings over the years.

Maybe that was why a couple of them left...

Most people who leave for a better job don't hang around the forum constantly dissing the previous employer. doubt you will be at the new job too long, this kind of attitude usually stays with someone and they carry it from one job to another

Yes, self insured to a point. Just wondering if you're headed near Indian Springs NV in the next week or so... And let us know if/when you find another truck or company that has the same mic setup. Very curious.

And a Saturday no less...no wonder drivers can't get the one or two people in the office from 8-11...they're listening in to the couple of hundred trucks on the road! Well, that mystery is solved!!
