No not to good to be true . sounds like a good learning experience and u have somebody to fall back on when things go wrong. I would be more concerned with how ur going to get paid before u jump into anything. Id say after u pay all of that , u aint gonna have much left over especially with paying a driver. Plus if ur cuttin the owner a piece off the top u might as well just figure it out urself . i would imagine hes no offering this service to u for free. Make sure get all ur ducks lined up before shootin them, so to speak.. i would get experience as a driver first before u jump into the business side of things, just so u can get understand what goes on out here. Just my 2 cents

Yeah it is a good opportunity it sounds like , but trukdriver31 is right about mixing family and business can and will be lethal . we have all been there unfortunatly, some of us more than once. But if ur decided on doing it , just make sure u understand what ur getting to , make sure anything u guys agree too , money wise and business wise , make sure its written in a contract and signed by both parties. Unfortunatly doing business by handshake anymore is jsut bad news even with family. Good luck to you

Well the first thing is your relationship with this person.

If you truly value this person and the relationship that you have with them, think very carefully about this.

Sometimes people can even have the best of intentions, but misunderstandings, a little bit of luck that's not so good, A little bit of miscommunication, a little bit of whatever can permanently alter a relationship.

Think carefully because business can be very delicate, especially with someone you have a good relationship with. You are going to make a large capital investment and if for some reason, whatever reason, you and he go your own way, what would you do?

On the business side of it, do not hire a driver. If you are a newbie, you need to learn Hands-On what the job is like. In time, when you do hire someone, you need to know whether they are BS ing you, stealing from you, etc. And when you do hire a driver, they will respect you because you'll know what you're talking about.

It's better for you in the beginning because you will make more money and you will need it. You may have periods of time you can't find a driver and you'll have to drive yourself. It's much easier if you have the experience. You may even have a driver abandon the truck somewhere and if you can't drive how are you going to get it back?

I'm not telling you to not do it, and I'm not telling you it can't work. But when someone makes an extremely large capital investment that is supposed to make them money purely based on one person helping them, that very rarely works out. It even more rarely works out when that person is family.
