Ok so basically my truck had some mechanical issues early Friday morning. Boss drove 8 hours to band aid it enough for me to finish the trip. Got to the truck stop 20 minutes away from my delivery on Saturday, can't deliver till Monday morning. Mid day Sunday (today) I decided to leave my parking spot to get fuel then repark. I'm a rookie, completely forgot about my elogs while I moved all of about 100 yards to the fuel island and back and after sitting for a few, I ran down my hours. I still have plenty of time to make my delivery in the morning but I need to pick up another load after I drop in the am that needs to go 300+ miles and be delivered by end of day tomorrow which at this point I'm pretty sure my hours won't allow and I'll be dammed if I have to waste another day because of this stupid ### good for nothing electronic piece of ####. I have a plan B at the ready but what would you do in this situation

It doesn’t matter if you moved or not. Fueling is ON DUTY also.

I would have fueled before I went off duty Saturday and would have had a fresh 70 Monday morning. BTW, you would have messed up on paper logs when you fueled, so don’t curse your elogs, kick your own self in the arse for being a dummy.

That essentially sums up what I need to know. I screwed myself. I'll be more diligent next time. Thanks Six

I do not know anything about e-logs, but can't you go on pc, and maybe forget you fueled?

You can't fuel legally on PC - you have to be On Duty.

If your plan be is too log out and just run on paper using the old "my e-log went bazerk so i got nervous and went to paper" don't. Maybe call your dispatch and see if there's anything they can do, maybe adjust time. I'm on people net and as long as i don't go over 8mph for a mile it wont even budge. But like the other said fueling is on duty anyways. Good luck be safe

300 miles is under 5 hours, even in a slow truck. You lost your 34, but you didn't have a full day Saturday and you did the bare minimum on Sunday. There has to be some recap hours coming back to you. You should have plenty of hours to both unload/reload and do the 300 miles and unload.

Save your hours. What's the bare minimum time the boss wants you to log OnDuty Pre Trip? What's the bare minimum for fuel? Log 10 minute OnDuty Load and Unload.

My boss didn't do a very good job being detailed on how to use the elogs properly in all honestly. That's part of the reason why I'm such a mess when it comes to this stuff

Mid day Sunday? I’m sure you had more than 10 hours till delivering? Is it the 70 hours needing a reset that got you?
