2019 DD15 slung a rod through the block today. 120k miles. I’m the only driver since new so, I know it hasn’t been abused. Anyone else have or heard of low mileage major engine failures on a DD15? What happened to yours?

Were you going up / down a hill, accelerating/ decelerating at the time?

Going down hill with the engine brake activated. It wasn’t an engine overspeed, if that was the next question.

    Yup, that was the question.
I saw one on the Detroit forums, it blew around 2,600 rpm.

Well I went back to the dealership today with my rental car to get all my stuff out of the truck. Mechanic had just dropped the pan and apparently a rod bolt fell out and the rod beat and banged around and broke in half, it was laying in the pan also. No overspeed or any other faults logged , just a mechanical failure.

Good they admitted to a manufacturer defect
Hope you're not down for too long.
I had a new Series 60 go back in 1998. Thrust washer failed at 36,000 miles.
They dropped in a whole new engine. But it took 11 days total.
