Random LTL Rants (all are welcomed)

I'm done with linehaul. Will quit my job if need be. My daughter was all shocked that I shaved my beard off this morning when I took her to work. I got rid of it on Sunday....that means I'm away from home too much for my liking.

School....I took her to school lol

 

Think Swift is having UPS move new trailers cross the country loaded with UPS freight to get them where they need to be .

 

I have some terrible news to break, guys. It looks like I just got a bid, so I can't be associating with some of you folks anymore. Sorry.

I hope you understand. I'm just trying to live my best life.

Honestly I'm just so excited. I've been on call since 2007, across three different companies.

 

Congrats!!!! You can still associate lol. I got my first bid run in 2002 and I still talk to y'all....I'm better but I still associate lol

 

Lol I have been so humbled for so long that I don't even know what arrogance or self-esteem would look like at this point. I'm a broken man. Lol

 

So I just experienced the #### side of being extra board.
Called this morning to see if I had a run, "nah man I'm sorry we don't have a run for you today".
Ok, well, I'm gonna kick back at home, do some work around the house. Here you go hun, take the car and go visit your grandmother since I don't need the car today.

630pm: call from dispatch. "Hey man, we need you to pick up a truck asap and run it up here."
Me: "hell yeah I get to work!, Only problem is I have no way of getting to the truck because you guys told me I didn't have a run today and I let the ol' lady use the car!"

Dispatch: "oh wow, alright bye".

Have any of you guys experienced this? I felt kinda bad cause at first I'm sure I got dispatch's hopes up till I remembered I had no way of getting there.
Should I expect some kinda retaliation or something? There really isn't anything I can do about not having a way to get to the truck

 

Normal management crew is all off tonight. Went in and told them I need to be put back on a delivery run and non normal manager gives me the oh well the line haul run is what we have for you so if you can't do that anymore..line. I said okay consider today the first day of my final two weeks and he just got quiet on me so I jumped in the truck and left. Normal boss called me about an hour ago lol. He said he'll figure something out because I told him why I want to switch jobs and he understands. I was real close to just saying #### it and walk out the door about dudes attitude, #### he's an idiot. Glad I don't work on the day crew and have to deal with him because I would have a real bad eye problem....I couldn't see myself coming in any more lol.
