I figured Oakley to be about at best $1.05 a mile after converting to actual miles, miles going home when you're allowed to (that's OOR to them) etc. The free trailer makes a difference though. But I see a lot of those trucks at businesses that need 1000 truck company to handle it which also means long lines being the norm. Really cuts into the bottom line as well. I'd rather pay the tag and have the freedom from Eclipse.

It don't matter who you pull for their are long lines from time to time and then their is the times you are sitting around waiting to unload because they don't have enough room but they wanted it in a hurry. I am just looking to see if it is worth buying a trailer or pulling some one else's during the bad times. -

I'm not sure why you guys are getting paid by the mile, thats weird, we get paid by the ton, or hundred wt, most times, unless its grain, then its buy the bushel.
We've done the wait game, more times than I care to count. But our guy charges them for it, when they have a hurry and get it load, and then they make us wait.
Today, hubby is loading out of rail cars, some might have 4,000lbs some might have 2,000lbs AND he has to scale after each car is MT. At $7.50 each time, this is going to get expensive, plus he told him to keep track of his hours, because taking all day to load, no wheels turning, isn't making us any money and just burning fuel. So they will be paying for time as well.
I've heard the Oakley ads on XM, felt that if they needed to advertise, then they pay pretty low.
We've got a pretty decent set up for now, with our guy. So I think that we will be staying with him for a while.
We also have a company here that re-sells used equipment, that we are working on a deal with, to haul now and then for them. Haven't worked out all the details yet, but we might be buying a low boy here in the future. We need an acreage. LOL
Here's what hubby did, when he first called our guy to talk with him, the guy quoted us a pretty high percentage, hubby said "not interested, your too high." And hung up. The guy called us back 10 minutes later with a much lower percentage. They try to get every dime out of you they can. You have to let them know that your not going to be stepped on.wheathauler Thanks this. -

Is anyone getting paid for sitting after you give them the first two hours when they have no room for the product?

Rates around here are anywhere from 1.00 to 1.30 cpm. That's the rate by figuring the rate per bushel. That's what the load actually pays...I have my own authority. Rates aren't going to go up much here until some of the cut throat outfits go under.
One outfit came from SW Kansas... They competed against the Latinos, so they think our rates are good. Meaning they cut the rates here so they could haul it. -
