The base in Jacksonville south west of here has rail served bunkers which I think stores about 54 old Peacekeepers which are obsolete today but still quite dangerous under the 80's tech of that time. I don't know if it is true or not. However the rail is maintained. It has once been a titan II missile field here in Arkansas. One silo near Searcy had a tool fall in and lit off the missile fuel and burned it to the point of tossing what was later known as a 9 megaton warhead assembly out of the silo. If it had detonated Arkansas would have essentially been erased and the bordering states would have had large damage.
Later on we had 6 wings of missile fields but now are only three. Out west with western Nebraska as the main one in the middle. About 450 minutemen are ready 24/7 more or less in groups of 150 divided by 10. Some are on farms which raise crops around them. The Soviet later Russian today practice truck dispersal of the Satan II and other Missile systems that are quite modern and extremely capable. All they have to do is scatter set and launch. Even one would lay waste and eliminate Texas or any US state permanently because we do not practice Missile defenses.
I don't worry about missiles much anymore. The Cold War was quite something. The mindset and so on. We continue to evolve and replace the aging weapons set with new technology and better warheads big and small. How small? The theory goes if necessary we can take out 4 city blocks downtown somewhere important and that would be that. No need to kill 10 million. But that can happen too either way.
The big problem is EMP. All of this technology on the Civilian side would just go poof. There would be those of old old enough to remember life without a net. As it was prior to around 1992 or thereabouts but the next two generations growing up now do not know how. And that would be a big problem. Some of the military net will stay standing for one purpose to turn the attacking Nation into a parking lot. -
When they set sail in this thing do you think they will be smart enough to close the doors to each compartment this time? Just in case.

AmodelCat: if all the ice bergs are melted, does that mean the Titanic 2 will sail north and attempt to cross the northwest passage where a few icebergs still remain to keep up the scenery the passengers witnessed in 1912?
FlaSwampRat Thanks this. -
I have little interest in icebergs. I see a mountain of fresh water that has to be useful to someone somewhere. Just tow it. -
Yellowstone's eruption would be big disaster for entire North America.
Some areas of Euroasia suffer because there is not enough fresh water. The water crisis is big in Central Asian countries, some areas of Iran and Iraq, in Arabic peninsula, some other areas of middle east. Very soon we will see wars started in these areas because of insufficient fresh water supply.x1Heavy Thanks this.
