What the heck is feathermeal? Gather some sort of meal but with feathers! Nope don't think so.

Good heavens, deadheading 600 miles that's a lot of miles

I've hauled feathermeal, chicken meal, and poultry meal. From what I gather it's all the same stuff. But boy there's a tiff when the shipper and receiver don't call it the same thing. I've had to call the broker to make calls and get it sorted out before getting the all clear to dump.

I'm sure there's some sort of nuance like % of crude protein, fat content etc.

I've gotta hit the road... some reason I don't have a good feeling about this trip...

Yeppers they do make feathermeal. Nearly pure protein and added to feed products.

Is he leasing his trailer to you for 5% of your gross? Under your own authority? I have never ehard of anything like that.

We have no lease with him on the trailer. We haul with it and he gets an extra 5% from us, and we have it on our insurance as a non owned trailer.

With all the other trailer leases or rentals that we looked at, we were responsible for the maintenance and repairs. And they wanted us to jump through hoops to get it. :biggrin_2552:

Doesn't sound too bad to me. I have own authority but if I wanted to haul a load for another carrier they would charge me 5-10 per cent. More or less a brokerage fee.

That's with both my tractor & trailer.

Hutchinson...Don't really know him, have seen trucks with RAM on them. I go to Wichita some but not a lot. Usually to the Cargill bean dump.
