I've helped out a couple times with Walmart.
I won't go into details, but I refuse to do so ever again.

Mine was a cashier and it was policy at her assigned store in our area at that time. Combined with evidence that you were sick from the doctor. They take their staffing seriously there. Which was one reason we left. She did achieve gold star status for a couple months as a good worker. But ultimately it was necessary to leave that job. The thousand or so she pulled in got re consumed in it's own commute fuel and so forth. Essentially a Sisyphean effort to roll the endless stone that never will reach the objective up top.

The call in process starts with a computer taking the information by keypad and then it progresses to the point at which its reviewed by supervisors. Who then either close the cashier line or replace her. If it was found that she was not sick etc then disclipinary effort would take place. This was more than 20 years ago so it has no meaning today to us. We would never work in a very micromanaged workplace like that.

I've worked at their DC for around 8 months or so on a dedicated account. Sams club stores and Walmart stores around the IL, WI, IA area. The work was fairly easy but they wanted things done their way, period, no other option. Small meaningless things like putting a lock on an empty trailer returning to the DC was a big deal to them.

the biggest problem that i have is this. i have always drove otr. so as a otr driver. you are the least favorite to the general public.(cars+rv's). now that im mr. walmart. the general public cares more about me then before. and the otr guys dont like me or follow me around in the truck stops. like im a gold nugget. at the end of the day. im not anything special. i have done my time otr for weeks and and in one case 3 months. so i have paid my dues. i just wanted more for the family. so i applied. yes walmart does things different. but the trade off has to be somewhere.

Do you think Walmart is only going to work a driver 10 hours a day ? They may have change the runs but I bet their driver work 14 hours days. I watch the video from current Walmart driver. Their phone policy is 6 calls a day no more then 10 minutes each. They pay good money but they expect a lot from their drivers. Like you could be slip seating 3-4 time a week if needed. I can't wait to hear how good it really is at Walmart. Stuff I see on internet says it's not the same Walmart of 10 years ago ,when it was the job to have, other then the pay today.

If someone starts at 2pm from the DC you probably be working till 4am.
