If everyone drove strictly for the money; they'd be driving for line haul outfits, food service, and jobs like that.
There wouldn't be anyone pulling reefers, dry vans. Yet, there's ads every day for $100k jobs in food service and line haul because they can't get enough drivers; not everyone wants to do that.
I'm one of them. I'd rather pull reefers coast to coast than do line haul or food service and be home every day.

    NavigatorWife and FlaSwampRat Thank this.

yet when i apply to those line haul and food service jobs that they seem to never have enough drivers, even with 7 years of accident free driving, i either get told we went with more qualified applicants (rare) or they flat out do not follow up, no email, phone call, nothing.

Keep knocking on doors if you want it. 7 years isn't honestly that much. It's great and keep up the good work but I just went to a new job with 18 years accident free and all delivery work and I'm not the only one so that may be the kind of people that have happened to apply at the same time you have. I know around me McLane is all but begging for drivers. Just keep being persistent, you will get it.

@Chinatown I have 1 year OTR dry van and would prefer to run Texas primarily (OK, AR, MS, LA is ok too) and I prefer to drive at night (start shift between 10 pm and midnight). I prefer automatic but I also like manual. Do you have any suggestions? I can live in the truck or I can do more local, either way. TIA

I think JBS Carriers has what you want.
On the website there's regional positions showing. Type in your state and it'll show those.
They'll also cross train you for cattle hauling if you want.

Also, look at Western Dairy Transport and Dairy Farmers of America.
Both are milk tankers with lots of rural driving to farms and ranches.

Maybe try AD Transport Express. I know they’re out of Michigan.
