Looks like that car was going pretty fast when he hit the truck.

Well, we know how this is going to end up. He may be charged with manslaughter because he was driving on a suspended license. And the lawyer the family retains will be looking for a huge payday. Hope the company he was driving for has big pockets.

Put the phone down and pay attention mr. 4 wheeler... gonna be interesting to see how this one turns out..... I think they need to write tickets to people who drive slow and with their 4 ways on.... It is becoming a big problem

So it should be a ticketable offense to find a safer place to pull over due to mechanical failure if able, instead of pulling the yellow knob wherever you #### well please? I'm gonna have to disagree with you on that one, sir, because I've had to do it myself once. No good reason to be a sitting duck if you know of a safer spot a couple miles up, such as a scale house or a rest area. Not to mention that with my current company, being a sitting duck is a firing offense

i tend to agree with you on this. the truck may have been "de-rated" or in limp mode", which still allows for driving, yet slower.

but the mere fact that the CDL was suspended would be enough to put him in deep crap.

i think that the courts are BS on suspending a CDL for lack of child support, which YES is very important to pay, but how many times does a drivers license (any drivers license) get suspended for ANY reason, and you are NOT notified.??

i think we read that a few times right here on THIS site....!!!!!!

was a time when one could plead something like "hardship" to avoid suspensions due to the CDL being the way you earned you money, to do what..??

    PAY YOUR BILLS/FINES, etc..

but the courts (maybe the CDL rules can't say for sure) did away with the hardship plea.

So they they suspend his license because he didn't pay child support. Now loses his job and that will help get the child support paid how? Maybe they should have hauled him into court and ordered his paycheck to get hit every payday for the child support. And if he doesn't inform them of a job change lock him up.
Either way he is screwed now big time.

They ha ve minimum limits for a reason. They also made shoulders for a reason. If u cant do the minimum speed limit then u need to pull the breaks and call a tow truck.. There is no reason to putz along the interstate with 4 ways on...idk what this sitting duck stuff is.. The shoulder is for emergency breakdowns

i can see what you are saying, as well as the other poster.

the "limp-in mode" may be taken out of context by some, meaning to think they can stay on the highway, rather than to "limp on over" to the shoulder.

i cannot ever recall driving in a de-rated truck, nor "limp-in mode", so i cannot say what the top speed is for either situation...

would it be 10 mph, 30 mph, 50 mph..??

    this i do not know
