You dont need to carry them. However, fines get steep if the chain law goes into effect and you try to drive without.
good chain law reading..

Maybe it has changed, but in Wy, you did not have to chain if the chain law was up, but the fines was steep if you blocked the road and was not chained.
Wyoming is pretty bad about just closing the road, they closed I-80 one christmas day so I bailed off and hit 30. They had rhe gate across the road 19 miles out in the middle of nowhere. i stayed for a bit and then went around the gate and went through, the plow had already plowed it anyway.BUMBACLADWAR Thanks this. -
If it goes into effect in one state, then you need to get them. In high altitudes, snow conditions are unpredictable. Pick you up a set

In Colorado I know from September must carry the chains. Somebody told me that I must get chains for pass by WY., I think he is wrong, for that my question. Thanks all answers.

Chain Condition Level 2 in Wyoming means you need 1 drive axle chained up. Just a single on each side will do.

Since chances of rolling through Colorado can sometimes be hi.
Good idea to have em anyways. Whether you roll through or not.
Better to be safe then sorry.
