Had to get off the line haul because I can't take not being home everyday, been running night bulk lately but it's official, I am the night yard guy now. I'm kinda happy about that.

This is what I want to drive. It would be like being back in a package car but bigger. I did lousy research when I went to work for coke and just assumed every beverage company used sideloaders but we don't lol. There is two sideloader trailers in our yard that look like they have been sitting there a very very long time. IMG_20191017_073402301.jpg

I ran a sidebay a lot when I worked for the coors distributer they had ther advantages and disadvantages but 100% truthfully you could run a lot more cases out of a van with a lift gate I preferred sidebays though. FB_IMG_1571323298340.jpg

So wow. I was coming back from my run pulling an empty trailer yesterday and I was on the interstate. My exit ramp came up and I took it as soon as I could to prevent people from passing me in it. The exit lane is a good mile and a half long so plenty of time and room to get into it even when it's busy.

So here comes this loaded rollback wrecker that was previously behind me and he starts speeding up next to me. It didn't dawn on me until he was almost next to my cab. Rather than following me, he decided he wanted to pass me at the last second and cut infront. He is speeding up to 55 (we both were previously slow rolling due to traffic) and just as he gets next to my cab, the traffic in his lane has come to a complete stop.

He is oblivious to what is going on and keeps checking out his window how fast he can cut infront of me (there is no way the length of his vehicle could get over without me slamming on my brakes). And there he goes, at full speed and rear ends the poor sedan ahead of him, which ended up causing a four vehicle pileup.

    What a scene.

Something similar happened to me once. Me and a guy going down a 4 lane city street about 45 next to each other. My lane is clear ahead. His lane is stopped in front of him. Dead stopped. I’m peaking over at his truck. I notice no brake lights are coming on. He keeps going full blast heading towards stopped traffic. At the last second I hit my brakes pretty hard. He locks up his and thanks to me slowing the heck down he was able to jerk his truck over at the very last second in front of me coming a few feet from the stopped car in front of him. Had I not noticed all of this in about a half mile. It could of been very very bad.

    So I have a rant.
So Im at the halfway point of my run. Pulling off the highway to go to the terminal that's literally a block from the off ramp.
I take this off ramp every day. It is a 4 lane off ramp that has 2 lanes to turn left, and 2 to turn right. With an island in between.
I pull off into the far right turn lane because that's the lane I have to be in to turn onto the next road that the terminal is on.
I pull up along side a guy pulling a 53 dry van in the left, right hand turn lane and come to a stop at the red light.
The guy pulling the 53 decides that he's gonna take a right on red. But instead of turning into his lane, he pulls out alittle and starts turning into my lane.
At this point I see whats about to happen and start laying on the airhorn. This jackboot doesn't bother stopping, drags #### near the whole length of his trailer across the drivers side of my tractor and straight takes off down the road without skipping a beat.
Got on the phone with the state trooper, out my triangles out and called dispatch.
Trooper got there and gave me an escort to the terminal.
All in all the step, mirror, hood, driver side headlight/signal were destroyed, and the back tandems of the 53 hit some part of the steering and through it off. I limped it to the terminal with a steering wheel that was upside down when I was going straight.

All in all my normal 9 1/2 hour day turned into. 13 1/2 hour day

Let me guess. All of that so he can pull over in front of you and go slow, right?
