I guess I just don’t understand how there’s a law that negates the fact that I was clocked going the speed I was going.

Going strictly by the book, you're guilty and have a slim chance of getting to be a truck driver. If you do, its with a crappy job for awhile.

In other parallel universes, its who you know or who you blow. The local lawyer will get your charge reduced to a parking ticket and a fat fee from you, and the prosecutor will win and collect a fat parking ticket. Everyone goes away with a win, and yours is becoming a truck driver with a shot at a non-crappy job.

Learn from the lesson. You're paying the tuition.

A lot of jurisdictions are more out for the bucks than anything else. It used to be in Texas that you could call the judge and pay double, with no record of the ticket. The last time I tried something like that was a local speed trap, that lowered the speed limit 2 miles before you could see anything remotely looking like a speed zone. I had my cruise set on 70, and had already slowed when I approached town to under what the sign I was coming up read, but looked in the mirror and had a cop already. I did not think I had got o a reduced speed yet. lol
I had my wife contact the judge and do what ever it took to keep it off my record. lol I had to pay double AND agree to write a 600 word essay, on my bad driving habits. lol I never wrote the essay, but it never went on my record either. lol

Then there are judges that will not budge. I was written a minor speeding ticket I was not guilty off in northern TX once, called the judge, hired a lawyer and over a year later finally spent a night in jail for that one, no give at all to the judge so I chose jail instead of paying them for something I was not guilty of.

You know your situation is a rough one if @Chinatown has to take time to think of a company for you. ;)

My advice...trade in that lead foot for something lighter, or put it on a diet so it's not so #### heavy. Or keep a good lawyer on retainer. :)

Jokes aside..It sucks learning a lesson so harshly but I'd bet you'll think twice before making that mistake again now.

Good luck in your search, hopefully you'll find a company willing to give you a chance.

When I started I had a ticket for 17 over. I went to Western Express. I would call them. I also got a pre hire for Covenant Transport in school. With that ticket, you may have to take whatever to get your foot in the door. Eventually it will be old enough to where it wont matter. Just be careful!
