Got a kick out of all the news networks asking to use the video in the comments.

We've got a bridge across the snake river gorge in Twinfalls, ID that has claimed a few trucks when it was really windy. Bridges and high wind are no joke!

You can see the effects of wind, but not see it coming, a down burst appears to come out of nowhere, resulting in a high straight line wind gust, a certain weatherman I watched got essentially blacklisted and later fired for not predicting one in a metro area.

The wind funnel effects are real, too.

    Question for experienced drivers.

What would you do to prevent this from happening to you ?

60 mph winds is my limit with Semi. usually NOAA has highwind warnings or similar in the area of interest. I usually wait them out.

The trouble is, you often have little or no warning. I will slide the tandems back if I know it's likely. Or wait it out, trying to pick less windy times to continue.

They are called micro-bursts. Even with all the technology and weather related information the air traffic control and airports have, it still takes down an airliner.
Pan Am Flight 759 - Wikipedia

Truck drivers on the interstate highway just do not have access in real time to the level of data that might predict such an event. They barely can do it on any given airport property, much less miles of interstate highway.
When you get good enough to predict this sort of thing from the comfort of your computer terminal, you really should get another line of work paying much better.

I'm stuck at a TA in WHY-OH-MING cause 80 is all shut down.

There's a guy in the lounge with a video he says his brother in law shot of this scene.

But swears it's on a bridge east of Flagstaff.

This is some of the worst parts about road closures.

Being blown over is a great a question.

Cause how far do you know you can really push it before you're rolled over ???

I know when I'm having trouble holding a lane consistently it can't be too far away.
