it was clean, taken care of, and a solid service record. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to haul FB tanker or van. This one gave me options. Other than that, not much sir.

Coolest Volvo I’ve seen in quite a while. Depending on how fast you run a rear end swap may help you out. I know with my Paccar once I’m over 1400 it’s all downhill. With your current ratio I’d say 55-60mph would be your best mpg. Other than that, you could have motor issues causing the lower mpg’s. I have a giant gap pulling a pneumatic and right now my 90 day average is 6.08.

I bought a van the same day I bought my 97 international, and with a maxed out load would get a consistent 7mpg, but I decided within 6 months, I didn't have the right temperment for box freight, and went back to flat. I left the lower ferings and side extenders, but removed the air dam. later on when I would occasionally pull a van, I would be lucky to get 6 and sometimes down worse than that. I won't say it was all the air dam, as I had also went from lopro tires to tall rubber in that same time.

There should also be small aluminum tags on the rear housings themselves, about 1 in by 2 inches.

I cannot abide van freight. Bless them but I need detail work and other mental things to consider. Van freight for me goes bad in a couple of weeks of slamming doors. It's just not my style. Ive tried to be good about it with several companies but it never worked out. Never.

However when I first explained that gap being too big, my feelings to vans did not matter. Just the gap you understand. It's just too big.
