Well so much for that nap! 1bad just called they gave him a T2000 he had to give it back!!!!!!!! lololololol It's to heavy to be on the Kraft fleet so now they are looking for him another one. They were told by Mr. I if need be he gets one of the new prostars and they have to have it ready for him to roll out by the morning. They already have him a load picking up sometime in the morning. Glad someone around there is finally ready to do the right thing for a change! ok gonna try one more time to get a nap before my bro gets here to replace the hot water tank that went out last night 1/2 way through my shower i got super muddy water!

Thanks for the e-mail Snowwy. I think I am going to look for a job that doesn't involve driving. I did check into Schwanns and their driving the straight truck and being in sales but I haven't heard anything back. I did have an interview this morning for an Asst. Manager position so we will see how this one pans out.
After thinking about my reasons why I left I have decided to elaborate about them in the hopes of educating some of the new drivers that will be going out on the road with their trainer.
#1. I got a DOT ticket in Oregon for being 1500 lbs. overweight on my drive axles. Before you ask me "Why didn't you scale?" I will head this off and say "I did". A few miles before the weigh station my trainer had me pull over in a rest area and he wanted to move the tandems. I was just a trainee but I understood that if you moved the tandems forward(trailer back) then that would take weight off the drives. He wanted to move the tandems back. I commented very nicely that we needed to move the tandems up. What I got was a string of profanities that ended in "You're just a ##### trainee". I let it go and got back in the truck and proceeded to drive. I should've got on the phone right there but I didn't. Needless to say that up the road(while I was driving) there was a weigh station and I was getting the blinking red light to pull in. I pulled on the scales and was immediately told to pull into the DOT inspection area and come into the office. The trainer and me went in and I got the ticket(and fine to go along with it). I was a little upset but when the DOT officer asked the trainer why he didn't know any better and the trainer just shrugged his shoulders, I got pissed. I said "Thank you sir" to the officer and went towards the truck. That was #1.
#2. I'll ask this question to all the other drivers then expand a little. Is it illegal for a trainer to drive on his trainee's hours when the trainer is supposed to be on off duty or sleeper? I know the answer but I want to hear from all of you. Yes, he drove on my hours to go pick up a load and come back to the WVC yard while I was at home real quick to check out the house, etc. He didn't tell me and to make matters worse, he had to pull off at a rest area because he was sleepy(wonder why). What was supposed to be an hour to the shipper and an hour back to the yard turned into 6 hours. I got some sleep but when I woke up and realized that I did not get a call back to meet him at the yard to take the load, I called him. After a breif conversation, I made up my mind that I was not going to do this anymore. He came back to the yard and I got my stuff out of the truck and went home. I was asked if I told any of the weekend dispatchers/planners/managers of him driving on my hours. I said "No". Should I have? I don't know.
Those of you going out with a trainer, be careful. I could have done things differently, I know. Hopefully this will help some people. Pay attention to the little things when you are out there and not just how to drive, back up, etc.

I wouldn't work for schwanns. That's a kids job. Lousy pay and u have to make your own sales. Ice cream hard to sell 9 months out of 12. They always advertising for help.

I am a trainer and i will say that absolutly yes you should have reported him. its people like him that train new guys that have no experience, that get those new guys into accidents. hes one of those guys that doesnt care about weather or not his student comes out learning anything hes just in it for the money. The very second you realized that truck was illegal you should have told him that he was going to have to drive it. and the fact that he didnt even offer to pay makes that all the worse. your company should have offered to pay you back for that as well. Im sorry youhad to go through that i went through a similar thing with my trainer. her tried to get me to drive with too much weigh on the trailer and he didnt want to go back to unload it i told him i wouldnt drive unless he had it fixed. and i didnt. he did get it reloaded though. also him driving on your logs is abig no no and should never be
done. you both could have gotten in trouble for that, i say yes he should have been reported hes not the kind of example the rookies need.

I chalk this one up to "live and learn". It would have been a better lesson if I didn't have to pay the fine but that's the way it goes I guess. He wasn't that bad of a trainer and taught me alot about shifting and backing up but driving on my hours was the last thing I would've suspected. I know he could've got into major trouble(he told me so) but even if I was unaware that he was driving on my time, I could too? Doesn't seem right but i'll take your word. I'm not going to do anything anyways. We have parted our ways and even though this has somewhat soured me on trucking, I wish him the best of luck.

You really should let Central know!!

If students don't let Central know then the trainer will continue to do a crappy job training!

You shouldn't have to pay the ticket it was up to the trainer to make sure the load was scaled!
