straight up 45, then 287 to I-25 on the old raton road and then west on 80 in WHY-OH-MING

You would hate the alternatives.

going towards Lubbock, then Armarillo then A'bque then 550, 491, 191, 6, 89

It really does not do well for you with all those towns in texas. Stop and go stop and go stop and go some more.

The other is Dumas to Lamar CO then 70 then etc etc etc. more towns.

287 above fort worth to old raton then I-25 is not bad. Construction should have improved it years ago.

 

287 is going to take 7 hours to get to Amarillo. Its the fastest way by far tho.

 

I always went to Dallas Fort Worth/ Denton TX then 287 to Amarillo. Then 287 up to lamar CO then keep going to 70 to Denver then noth i25 and get off on 287 again and cut over to Laramie WY then 80 to salt lake City

 

Before you go breeze way go to www.wyoroad.info and check is the Why -Oumm-Ing road open. Sometime I-40 to HWY 491 rout couple days shorter.

 

This would be my route except for taking 287 from 25 north.
