It's okay. I hauled a bunch of over size loads through most of that (camp shacks for Baffin Island from Ft. McMurray to Montreal; we actually turned east at Matheson, ON, then went through Rouyn-Noranda). Not much different than 11 through Ontario; two-lane, mostly empty, but every now-and-then you're rolling by ten feet from someone's front door. All my trips were summer time, so I can't speak to winter time, but I imagine it's like everywhere else.

I enjoyed it and nothing stands out in my mind, either great or not, other than the lack of traffic... and no MTO. ;)

I white-knuckled the 11 last night and this morning. 14 below and the snow was blowing. My first winter in a truck. I kept telling myself it gets easier LOL. ( It's only November !)

Do you remember where you got fuel?

if you're coming from the GTA heading west you can take highway 17 it's shorter by about 72 km and less annual snowfall compared to 11, also better maintained

Just make sure you’re truck has a limiter.. The scales up there are closed a lot but if open they check unfamiliar trucks often.. It can be a extremely rough road in spring due to heaves you see truck parts everywhere on the shoulder. ( brake cans mudflats brake shoes etc etc ) It’s about 60 to 80 km shorter but takes the same or longer than taking 17/11 northern route.PS take the 101 Matheson route over the Kirkland lake 66 route but use the truck route which passes by the scale in rouyn noranda don’t follow google

Lol, yeah till a squall comes in off the lake. Nice road in the summer, at least 11 you can still plug along. As far as maintained better? Yeah ok.
