Hearing about them sinking in the mud is heartbreaking, and then shipped to South America? What a loss. They would make great restoration projects these days. Whenever I see one which is rare these days it's just one of those stop and look moments. Cool that you had one.

I had the pleasure of driving a couple of K100 Aerodynes.
One was a brand new 1982 with the 108" cab, 400 HP Cummins, 13 spd, 3:70 rears and 24.5 rubber, ran single in that one.
Girlfriends liked it for star gazing.
They would bend over the doghouse and look out the front windshield and I would stand behind them and look through the sleeper windows.

The other one I drove for a couple weeks, when a friend called me up to fill in on one of his 3 man teams.
Each week out was about 6000 miles, a dedicated scheduled run from Toronto to Vancouver with 4 P/U's and drops in each direction.
Every rounder a fresh driver would get in and another would get out, you were one week on 2 days off, then one week on and 3 days off.

Those trucks had 3406B's @ 425 hp, 15 spd direct transmissions with 3:55 rears and 24.5 tires.
They ran a steady 65 MPH all day and all night, 24/7, only thing that stopped them was road closures and breakdowns which were few and far between.

Both trucks were flying the same colours and looked nearly identical to this one in the pic that an old friend sold not so long ago, about the same WB as well, around 185" I'm guessing.

Wipes tear. We lost something along the way. Can do without the three man team. That's way too much for a small closet.

I keep thinking some of those older tractors are righteously put together. I cannot help it going overboard on some of these things. People chase pretty women, I chase pretty trucks done right. =) //tease.

Enjoying the stories from those of you that actually owned/drove one full time. Would love to hear more about your experiences.

That was in the early 90s when the bottom fell out of the cab over market and nobody wanted them , I heard the kw dealer in Omaha took quite a bath on those trucks .
