I went off duty while having a DOT Inspection at the scale. Officer asked why I'm off duty, didnt wanna tell him I was trying to sneak my half hour break in. He just said I had to be on duty, which I knew. Never switched it and went about my day. So I say the choice is yours.

Go off duty, no matter what others say ... go off duty.
Here is why.
You are sitting in the cab on the side of the road broke down, most likely having the tirangles improperly placed, when someone runs into you.
The first thing that the person gets is a lawyer to sue you and your company.
May even show up at the hospital or even stop on the side of the road if they are driving by.
These are ambulance chasing lawyers that they get, making Jimmy McGill aka Saul Goodman look like a saint.
The first thing he is going to do is subpeona the company records, including your drivers record they have on file and the logs.
These guys will go to an expert if they don't have one in house (most do) who will look at everything and report back to the lawyers your mistakes in your logs and this will kick the door open for the lawsuit against the company and you.
Your company's lawyer with your company's insurance company will most likely work on a deal but throw you under the bus they are driving it, they will screw you over no matter what.
So the go ahead log off duty ...Tx Countryboy, x1Heavy, Mohtrucker and 1 other person Thank this. -

If your on the side of the road and a trooper comes along you better be on duty. If your at a truck stop I'd go off duty.

South Memphis 78.
7 magazines 9 rounds each, one in plus one up in chamber. Weapon is in good order and holder is ready to go. Armor with rifle plates inplanted (Like that is going to do any good once the new Rounds are distributed to Army and Police... you can have a Level OMFG protection and still get blown up by a bullet) Stab panels in place.
All cash removed from person. All identity type documents removed. Excepting carry license and gun license etc. Blade in it's holster deep into a boot and couple of other workaround distributed ready for trouble that is expected on 78.
Sheesh, all you have to do is keep your eyes up and do not look like prey, do not allow anyone within 6 feet of you if at all possible.sherlock510, truckdriver31, D.Tibbitt and 3 others Thank this. -
If you're in the city. You might even get a incident vehicle with his big sign up and flashing for people to move over.x1Heavy, truckdriver31 and D.Tibbitt Thank this. -
