Didn't you already ask this earlier??
Double post???.x1Heavy Thanks this. -
Portland probably means the TA or Love's in Troutdale.
I always reserve a spot at the TA because those places can be crazy full at any hour. -
Any time you have to overnight near Portland use the PFJ or TA at exit 278 south of the city. Get their before sunset and you'll find space. After sunset and I would suggest the rest stops just north of there or pay for reserved parking.

He did double earlier, I told him about the good old Jubitz downtown.Bean Jr. and Tx Countryboy Thank this. -
No light, and you usually have quite a wait for traffic to clear since it is 50 feet from the exit. -
Moosetek touched on a good point: that TA is hell to get out of. They do have a humongous parking lot tho and it will have empty spots well into the night.
But that exit, 278, is a mess. I don't even use it, and I'm local. When I'm traveling southbound, I get in the center, and sometimes the 3rd lane, as the exiting traffic will back onto the freeway. It is a very dangerous place. Lotsa carnage there.
You can shower early and hit the rest area at 282. I don't know what tine it gets full but it's the biggest rest area on 5 by a wide margin so you've got a fighting chance. Or park at coop at 274, Ive not heard of anyone getting hassled there.
The OP probably already knows that the TA and loves on 84 fill up fast and shoukf look for an industrial park like that guy in the other thread advised.
Good luck -
I rarely stay at the TA for the reasons mentioned, plus I just don't like TA's. I generally stay at the PFJ across the street. It gets full early, but so does any truck stop if you get there after dark. Plus I love the burritos at the little place across the street.
