Its la, not the valley in Texas. The cost of living in la is so high there isn't anything left to send to the family in Mexico.

Those folks are the extreme minority of immigrants, legal or illegal. And they ain't driving trucks. They are working in food service, landscaping and day labor. Cash under the table jobs.

Who said mercer is getting out of cali? Two of our largest agents are based in California.

What they are doing is suspending signing on contracts based in California, the same thing landstar and every other single trucking company in the United states is doing. Basically it's giving the lawyers time to figure things out and to let the politics play out. And yes AB5 is the reason and every one knows that. Also it's a lot more intrusive into trucking than simply lease purchase trucks. Mercer doesn't even do or ever has done lease purchase trucks.

Just what America needs, another slow down, who's going to handle the port freight, you think JB Hunt or Schneider will? Sure 1099 is bad, so is entrepreneurship, why do you need to run your own business when you can work for Amazon? Commie.

The word is that most of the shipping companies are going to now send their vessels through the Panama canal to the ports of Houston and the ports in Florida because they're tired of the shenanigans that comes with the Port of Los Angeles and Long Beach..
