So.. These violations I was not issued a citation for, will be seen by any legit company that looks? How was I to know that the ifta stickers were not legal? The cops only figured it out because they contacted Illinois Department of Revenue / IFTA dept.

SC plates confused me, I'll admit. There is TWO dates on the registration, one for plate expiration, one for tag expiration. The plates are not expired, but the sticker is.

Yes considering I gave the DOT the keys to the truck, and all the cars.. they're going to have to go in and talk to somebody.

It will be rather expensive to replace 25 brand new chip keys for all these Mercedes-Benz.

You can take your permit book to the permit office and ask them to thumb through it and update anything that needs to be updated if you are not sure what you are looking at. Your truck will have stickers that show expiry dates on tractor and trailer for PMs as needed.

I don't know if anyone will see the warnings that you got while you passed through that weigh station. But your problem remains, you are driving for a company that doesn't care a lick. They are there to make a quick buck and then they will disappear, change their business name or just go back home to Russia.

Change companies. You will be fine. Someone will hire you. If they ask questions just tell them the truth. You are new driver and still trying to get everything figured out. As soon as you realized there were problems you bailed. What more can you do

Its easy to overlook some of that stuff when you are new. Go work for a company that's experienced in dealing with new drivers. I get reminders via text or email when my equipment or permits are close to expiring. Its easy to forget some of that stuff when you are new and focused on just not hitting stuff or screwing up in other ways. So go get started with a company better equipped to help you succeed.

Yeah figuring out how not to hit things, I drove through Chicago..

I told the boss I need a real truck GPS, he said it wasn't necessary.

...For a trailer with cargo that measures 13 ft 6 in tall

Thankfully I can read maps and street signs.

    So, here is an update.

The guy running the company is flying by the seat of his pants with his hair on fire.

He went to great lengths to make me a happy camper.

I have tags, insurance, and all was verified by Highway Patrol.

I am glad I went home. Its Saturday Evening now, but they flew me from the truck, to their terminal, met with the owner, sat down and had a long chat about his company being legal, as well as his trucks. He seems to want to do it right. I have been drug tested, passed. DQF complete. Insurance Broker sent me insurance docs. They flew me back up to the truck after paying me for my 2 weeks working with a little extra for my trouble.

    All is legal now.

    He learned a lesson.

Should I park the truck at their terminal and walk, or stick with it while it lasts?

I cant make this much anywhere else for a while. I could have my own tractor and authority paid for within 2 months of working here. May not be a pretty truck, but I have family that runs a class 8 truck shop.

Park the truck at a truck stop, contact the owners/company, look for another job. Don't turn the company's problems into your problems by driving the truck one more mile than necessary to get to a safe parking spot. I hope you have some money/credit card in case you have to fly home or ride the bus.

If you drive that truck your problems will get worse. And those problems are 100% on YOU. You now know you have a CMV not eligible for use on public roads. Do. Not. Drive. It.
