I'm guessing you missed or ignored the part about how HVH is out of business. Its not your trailer or load to do anything with.

They BOTH belong to the insurance company.
Who will get in touch at some point to retrieve that load, and trailer.

Keep trying, its NOT your property to do with as you please.

Find out WHO left it there. Start with them.

Get your lawyer to find out through the courts, who to get in touch with.
But FIRST, use that tool between your ears.

    D.Tibbitt Thanks this.

That doesn't matter. The trailer and the load belong to somebody.
If the trailer is on your private property you can file a storage lien against it and proceed accordingly. After a certain length of time the trailer will become legally yours if no one claims it. We did that with some Arrow trailers that wound up abandoned at our place.
What you can't do is just sell somebody else's property and pocket the money. That's called theft.

And, for whatever it's worth I don't understand the timeline either. Did you or did you not already sell the trailer and the load?

This is the correct process, and whatever scrapyard took that load is in trouble too. There's a reason they paid 30% under. When the insurance company gets involved this is going to be a ####show.

First career was in scrap. This whole thing is way out of bounds, and constitutes theft by multiple parties.

in my very early years of life, i worked at company that towed all sorts of vehicle off the road, properties, etc. many of these were "police tows", the others were tows called in from property owners.

i cannot recall, but there is/was a time frame the vehicle had to sit on the lot, gathering up tow and storage fee's. in just about every newspaper, there is a "legal section" where you post a "lien" or "take ownership" of the towed vehicles,, you had x number of days to respond to get back your towed vehicle.

after that, the vehicle was "relinquished" to the tow company...

something like that...the tow company could not just blatantly sell off the vehicle or take ownership of it.

I would recommend deleting the thread and claiming ignorance, but you can't do that and I imagine TTR doing so would make them accessories.
