$40K for 250 miles, or $70k for 400 miles, no thanks

 

While I don't personally care for it the price seems like a deal compared to what trucks from the big 3 are going for when people are just gonna use them to drive to work at their office job.

 

In that point, yes. But, let's look at it realistically, the pickup of the year is the 2020 Ram 3500 DRW Limited, $88,000. 32 gal of diesel, 18 mpg highway, roughly 600 mile range, hook up 35K to it (35K towing capacity) that's still 450 to 500 mile range and it seats 6 in more luxury than the Cybertruck could hope to.

 

But all soccer moms gotta have one.

I read online a few minutes ago that a Tesla in autopilot mode plowed into a stopped highway patrol car in Connecticut yesterday. Of course Tesla will review the data and blame it on the driver as they have in every other of the dozen or so instances that Tesla's have run into stopped emergency vehicles. Human drivers have to slow down or move over for emergency vehicles stopped on the shoulder. I guess Tesla doesn't recognize that law.

 

Was this Tesla driving without a human in it?....because if there was a human in it, it would definitely be the humans fault for not paying attention to the road. It’s still the law for them to pay attention and should be 100% the humans fault.

 

Tesla has developed and markets a feature on their vehicles called "Autopilot". In every other application on earth that term means that the vehicle drives itself. The response time of a computer can be measured in milliseconds, compared to the slow response of a human. Even newer cars without autopilot have proximity alarms if there is stopped traffic ahead and you're going too fast, it makes the driver aware so they can slow down or stop.

If a company is going to advertise and sell a feature that claims to drive for you, it better do it very well. Accidents like this is why I laugh at those who are freaked out about driverless trucks taking our jobs in the near future. The technology is nowhere near ready to operate autonomously.

If whomever is to lazy to read what they are buying they deserve to crash. Our society is become so lazy and entitled.

 

Tesla vehicles are sovereign citizens and don't recognize road pirates.
