KAG is called Keenan down here in Savannah. I don't work for them but I am a Gas Hauler and all us Gas Haulers are pretty tight down here in Savannah. The Keenan drivers all seem pretty happy here and they don't have a high turn over.

They rarely advertise here. However, they did get my app and have called....BUT I don't know if they need help or not in the Pittsburgh area.

kag is kag with all its subsidiaries. The kenan part of the name comes from kenan transport, advantage comes from advantage tank lines to form kenan advantage group. When advantage bought out kenan they were added to the name.kag is advantage, bxi, klemm tank lines, north canton transfer, transport service company, kag west formerly benito, pct, and kag ethanol logistics.
For anyone interested just type in the acronym and look at there web site. As far as the hours, they never make people at my terminal work 14 its usually 10 to 12 and there is alot of flexibility with work if you have somewhere to be. All the companies have centralized dispatch from canton ohio at the corporate office. The work is dispathed on the cadec so you only talk to someone if there is a problem, also paperless logs with the cadec.

    Jim,

What I mean by small companies is some small franchised BP stations. I know some an o/o that likes them. Says it is pretty laid back and he happy to get home every night.

Just a quick update on this thread.....KAG, after going through all the effort to get the application in to them, had been quiet for a while. I called to check on my application and they said I didn't have enough tractor trailer experience. Outraged, I explained that I had about 7 years or so. She says "yes, but no tanker, right?" I said, well, no I don't have tanker experience....I was led to believe I would be trained.

She said "Well, we have enough applicants right now with tanker experience that we don't need any inexpereinced drivers right now."

Why did they waste my time to begin with?!!?

Anyway, I am pretty sure I am in with Source One, who will train me.

kenan advertises in the employment guide around here all the time. yes, even now, even though you wouldn't think they would have a problem finding drivers.

I don't know about this company's turnover rate, but I used to run into plenty of OTR drivers who USED to haul gas. I did it for 2 days. it was more strenuous than tarping a load, in my experience. might not be a bad gig for a burly gentleman. but all of my friends are a hell of a whole lot bigger (and supposedly stronger) than I, and they wouldn't touch a job like this with a ten foot pole.

Kenan used to advertise in ther Employment Guide here too. They haven't for quite a while.

They say Source One is more mental than physical. Make sure you put the right grade in the right tank....I don't know. For me, it is worth a try. I think....I am sick of sitting at home!

I see you drive for Advantage Tank out of Toledo. I live in Perrysburg and I applied for KAG and was wondering what I can expect if they call me. What is the starting pay? What type of schedule can I expect? How good of company is this? I have been unemployed for a year and previously have been an LTL city driver but have been laid-off because of the economy.
