Tonight I had to make a trip out to my yard but had to go up US 23 from my house to M14 to drop off a driver.
Well we get stuck behind a truck, didn't see what company it was, he decided to just cut off a bunch of people to pass a box truck. He gets over and leaves his right turn signal on for over two miles.
I pass him, it is dark, he has no lights on at all and just oblivious to the world around him and the turn signal that is blinking and blinking and blinking ...
Then we are approaching M14 interchange, I am looking in the mirror to merge onto the on/off ramp, I can see him and as I am just watching him, he decided just to get over. Maybe he thought his turn signal which was on for over two miles justified moving over into a lane where there were cars in the spot he wanted to occupy.
Again as we got onto M14, he still had his turn signal on, and again he just got over with a car in the spot he wanted to occupy.
Now this isn't a rant, I wasn't the one run off the road, but I wonder how many times do drivers check to see if they have lights on, or see if their turn signal is on for a few miles or even check to see if there is a car in the lane they are entering?
Must have a lot of experience?

There has been times Ive slept on that red light of the truck in front, waking up just enough to record the kansas state line, then go back to sleep until Colorado, wake up again...
350 or so miles of oblivion. Following that red light on the trailer in front.
Get to Limon, get a gallon of coffee and wake up enough with a meal to make ready to do battle at sunrise in denver metro.
My worst or lowest point happened on a upgrade when she refused to stay in gear and I was too fatigued to give a Dam. Pulled up on the wide spot upgrade and went to sleep head on the wheel.
And foot holding the service brake. 14 hours. Nothing else hold that rig in place all that time rocking gently int he storm wind on that mountain.
I think God sent down Archangel Gabriel to hold that foot there and Michel to keep anyone from getting under the decap bar back there.Texas_hwy_287, BigDog Trucker and Crude Truckin' Thank this. -
I never actually click the indicator lever into place, just kinda hold up on it to make it blink. As far as lights go, if the weather is inclement at all or if it's foggy mine are on.

I pulled into this dirt truckstop in some bum#### west state somewhere god only knows where to get away from that ice storm.
Cashier looked at me the next morning, I asked her where in hell is this place? Popped her gum and said no where really St Georges is that way. Salt Lake this way.
On this road? Then she gives me a looking over like I am a nut. It's time to go and make my leave of that place.
Maybe I was a nut for taking a big rig up that one road. I have since then scoured google earth and cannot find it. Maybe it;'s out of business.
Fast forward to today. I refuse to live my life that way anymore. I'll pull the wagon, but when I get tired or the ex gets tired we go home thats that. We had too much of that BS being tired over the years on the road.D.Tibbitt and Texas_hwy_287 Thank this. -
