    Hi
I just registered here and found while I was searching on google about hot shot trucking. I am just wonder about this industry and would like to learn some topic, I am pretty out of hot shot. I have a f150 5.4L V8 4x4 6.5 bed supercrew and has 10000lb towing capacity in this pickup. I read a lot of website and watched many video in youtube people are doing with their own truck to hotshot but most of them has f350 or ram3500 however they said when they load some load has under 10000lbs so I was thinking that I can do this with my truck. Btw I don’t have cdl and trailer.
Would you have any advice or help for finding a load or dispetcher? And I really wonder about your opinions how should I do hotshot, to recommend me to fletbed trailer or something else.

I respect all of your recommend and advice if you can. My brief question is how should I start hotshot trucking with my own truck?

    Upinsmoke Thanks this.

Truck is too light. WAYYYYY too light. Put 10k lbs behind that truck daily and it'll be in the scrap yard before mid 2020.

Not to mention, the 5.4's tendency to abort its spark plugs.

I think you will get alot of no's for an F150. I see a quickly worn out truck and burned up engine, I was going to suggest the "so you want to hotshot" but see you're reading it now.

I don't know where the manufacturers pull their tow ratings from. Probably out of their ### lol. Tried towing about 1,500 lbs short of the tow rating on a half ton pickup once and that SOB couldn't even make it up the Smasher without having to stop half way up to let it cool down lol. Then finish the crawl up in 4lo to make it easier on the engine/tranny.

The drive line, engine, and brakes will hate you in short order.
As stated above, truck it too light and will be a #### to stop quick with any load..and still be pointed straight.

    Upinsmoke and Oxbow Thank this.

    He didn't say year, but...
By 2007 (or was it 2009?) the spark plug shooting out of the head is fixed. After that is actually the opposite problem. They like to weld themselves in. What is recommend now is warm the engine, and fill the plug well with pb blaster and wait a day or two. They come right out.

That said, all 5.4's have the phaser/timming chain issues.
