So I have noticed a reoccurring trend in this forum. Somebody will get on here and ask for info about a given company. Then the typical answers are usually like this.
Driver 1 “ I used to work for those cheep ######## from 58-62 and they had a no idle policy and the Apu haven’t been invented yet.”

Driver 2: “ yea well I heard from Jonny jake break on the CB radio that they have a company lizard the will give you a free handy every third stop at the OKC TA.”

Driver 3: “ my cousin is a recruiter for them and he just bought a new double wide says the company is awesome.

Where is all the relevant information all I see is outdated and third party hearsay. It’s almost as bad in here than listening to any conversation that involves more than 3 teenage girls.

Okay, you defined the problem. Great. Now, what's your solution?
Asking questions on a public forum is a lot like standing in the middle of a crowded room and shouting out your question. You'll get all kinds of answers and a lot of them won't do you any good. As a rule, the loudest guy in the room is the weakest guy.
Hang around a while. You'll figure our pretty quick who knows what they're talking about. Use the IGNORE feature to get rid of the ones who offer only outdated and useless information, the ones who turn every post into a diatribe about their health issues, the ones who condemn any idea that doesn't agree with their own, and the ones who just like to hear the sound of their own voice.
There's a lot of good information here. It just takes awhile to sort through it.
Keep posting, keep asking questions. Or not. Your choice entirely.

then if YOU have the answers that poster needs, fess up and help him/her..????

banter is common on all websites. it serves a purpose of letting people "talk" even if it's outdated or joking. some out dated information "can be" useful to serve as a warning to the question about the company, persons, tickets, etc, as many times, out dated information is all there is out there.

further i have to ask you, "when you go to the truck stops, either for your shower, or food, or fuel...are you trying to say you hear complete silence there, or pretty much the same as you read here"..????

if it's all basically the same, then the problem does not lie in the people in general, but the person that is disturbed by all of it.

You need to understand that People are like birds at the feeder, they are being social. We are not rigid in transferring approved or otherwise acceptable information only sanitized of all the things you wrote that were issues which contaminates the act of said information sharing either verbally talking to you in the truckstop or here across the net.

Some of us who write have many years if not many decades in this industry. Others are relatively new. I started back in the 80's for trucking, have been around trucking since childhood due to the nature of our family business that supported a percentage of them with bar and food etc. Including relatives who were truckers in war and peace with their stories passed down to me.

This is way before the Internet days. Everything was no computer in those days. What you learned and verified as fact is what you retained and used as you went about trucking, finding shippers and solving common trucking problems.

Companies were mostly the same cut in those days, you join one, sometimes they go out of business you hop to another next week. It only takes a few minutes to talk to a trucking company, take a 20 minute road test with docking etc and check insurance for you and assign you a report to work date and time next day. Today, we have all this internet, databases evolving in real time, even a driver drug database which YOU will be supporting next year as part of your ability to get a job and so on. Those days and today's living internet is incredibly two separate worlds.

So, when you stand up in Little America and say HOW DO I DO....? You are going to get stories, teasing, jokes, some dirty stuff, and out of all that you hope to find a little nugget of fact.

It's the same here. However this site is Moderated. Once in a while I go off he deep end and they collar me to 'splain which results in a wall of writing going over each little contested issue. Takes a while. But alls well.

My doctors pending one or two final medical stuff is pretty much ready to hand me a long form and tell me I can go get a CDL and run medicine loads again next year. I'll be getting back into that. Even though I had been off OTR 18 years but NOT away from big rigs as a CREW Boss dealing with a team of CDL Temps at auction sales of trucks until 2010, so I am fairly aware of the evolution of emissions, transmissions etc. Some don;t know manual, some don't know auto and I get them in there and a dirty 5 minute lesson. Off they go to learn the rest by doing. Don't kill anyone in the barn.

At the end of the day anyone visiting our dead planet a billion years from now takes the time to sit and read our entire sum of Human Knowledge on long haul trucking is going to have to do alot of heavy lifting to put it together.

I dont know what the solution is but as a guy about to start a second career trying to find information about different companies its gets frustrating trying to sort through all the hearsay and outdated information to get to the short and skinny of it all. I mean its great that somebody can remember that somebody in a truck stop told them that they heard TMC issued their drivers a bottle of polish and a rag back in 1992. But it is not relevant it helped nobody. I have read through dozes of threads on various companies i have thought of applying to and have yet to find more than one or two comments per thread that are actually useful.

just go with what you get..not all information regarding say XYZ trucking is going to be 1000% spot on. you WILL GET sour grapes, from former employee's. you "might get" some good reviews, but then ask your self this, was that good review from an undercover recruiter?

there are some of those here, from time to time. so of course you're gonna get GREAT reviews and opinions....

take what you can get and work with it, this website (and others) are free and so is the information..in other words..."you get what you paid for"....

again, as long as i have been here, i never "heard" anyone say what you said, about "noticing a recurring trend"..............

one other way to look at it..you need directions to a customer..

you look at a road map, google maps, whatever maps, you pre-set your GPS, and you still think to ask others for directions..

now here you are, with all these directions some the same, some a wee bit different...what do you do then..??

you take what you have and work with it....

Okay, I understand you better now. You're looking for absolute guarantees that whatever company you choose will be absolutely perfect for you based on the information you get here.
It doesn't work that way. I wish it did.
This isn't the military. We're not as structured and predictable as the environment you're used to.
Every trucking job has it's good and bad points. You've probably already learned the ones to stay away from but even the best trucking job out there will have a few flaws.
You might want to think about a post office job or maybe a county or state position. With your veterans points you're already ahead of most applicants.
    Good luck to you.

No im not looking for absolute guarantees what im looking for is pointed and up to date information from somebody who has actually worked for the company in the last 5-10 years. That dont guarantee anything but it gives a first person point of view there is a huge difference. Some one regurgitating unverified 3rd party truck stop talk or company policy from before the invention of variable cam timing doesn't help.

You don't want outdated information but you are looking for information from those who have worked at a company within the past 10 years.

In the trucking world, getting information from someone who has driven for a particular company 10 years ago virtually guarantees you will get outdated information. You might consider consider changing your search parameters.

that was just a generalization. Most of what I’m finding is guys talking about what a company did when I was in elementary school.
