It can be programmed in the ecm
One of my trucks kicks in engine brake on low when speed exceeds 3mph of cruise set up , jakes kick in as soon as i let accelerator pedal off ( when cruise off )
Other truck kicks in with jakes only when tap brakes

    Sevyn Thanks this.

Doing an experiment. So far no explosions and truck hasn’t locked up with cruise and engine brake on. I’ll update later after the spontaneous combustion happens.

My Mack has a variable setting on when the jake kicks on while on cruise control. (Mack calls it 'power leash') Even though my truck is governed to 65, I can set it to kick on at any speed I want (default is 5 mph over set speed)

    Sevyn and D.Tibbitt Thank this.

Engine brake and cruise are the two things that are constantly on, even on the old iron that has it. Never gave it a thought.

Keep in mind I do not believe in Adaptive, Radar assisted or any of that modern marlarkey today. Some of it is unwelcome in winter. Cruise have one function hold a speed or idle. And jacobs is one function hold her down grade. (Plus a couple of other neat things you can do with it but irrevelant here)

Both are on always so they are instant in reacting to me when I need it right then.

If we decline to where we fight over switches in the drivers seat, might as well go home and find something else to do in life. And run robots for trucks.

Only reason not to run jakes with cruise on is bad weather.. PS if it’s bad cruise shouldn’t be on either .

Sevyn, flood and D.Tibbitt Thank this.

To the point. Perhaps @Sevyn should find out what other stupid things she was taught before she gives the ol co-driver the blues.

    D.Tibbitt and AModelCat Thank this.
