You can’t hear jakes. That’s an epa truck. You heard a tad bit of garbling from the trooper

I cannot hear jakes on that red truck.

I examined the rear trooper car view of red truck frame by frame and the last frame prior to him leaving the field of view of the rear camera shows that there is a angle developing on his tractor drives with the trailer and no apparent obvious issues as to cause the problem.

Red Truck Driver must have royally effed things up really badly somehow coming up on that little scene.

Runner showed a presence of mind. Take off and gtfo of the smash area which isnt that good to see, maybe he was Explosives A placarded or something like that? //half teasing... he had a reason to run. I imagine a great big semi heading right for him might be enough to make him run. Buy the man a lottery ticket.

What you heard that you thought was jakes was just tires sliding on icy pavement. Hearing that sound coming towards you is like trying to find a jet by sound in the sky....looking AT the sound is looking about too late. With tires though, by the time you hear it, it's already too late to boogie away from it.

Definitely no Jake brakes sound. That’s a newer emissions truck. I think the op is riding a high horse. Careful what you say, a Jacknife can happen to anyone.

I listened 5 times and didn't hear any jakes. I did hear some radio static but that was it.

FerrissWheel and Chubby Fly Thank this.

I agree the jackknife could happen to anyone, Ive lived it.

However I don't understand they why this one happened the way it did.

Ive already reached the idea that there is no jake on that second truck. I have my own opinions related to jacobs use in bad weather and winter at times even though its generally accepted as a bad idea. Like all things, anything is possible. When we screwup we royally screw it up.

    FerrissWheel and Lepton1 Thank this.

I think the red truck did not have Jake's on. What I hear as it went out of sight in the rear view dash cam is tires hitting the median side rumble strip. That sound continues until the drives start cutting across the road in the jacknife.

Definitely not the right moment to be going that fast! You are approaching a partially blocked freeway, with a trooper lighting up the scene. Back the #### out of it to help set a good example for others to follow.
