Dam that’s a badazz truck so clean too. I’m jealous.

 

That’s a beauty, and the engine, amazing find. Makes me miss my 92 star. Almost bought the blue one last summer, but came to my senses. Solid Truck, fresh Cat, $ 14 k. Very tempting.

Not sure, but I seem to remember Autocars had double frames.

 

We had one in the milk fleet and the owner of that one was real particular. One of those punch the rookie until rookie minds the lesson. That one was a 6x4 with a 13 underdrive where you would be able to apply half a gear again with the hammer before you either hit the top of the hill or you needed to downshift. It was NOT fast. Just get from farm to farm and do things that are not faint of heart.

His route involved one farm where its necessary to blindside the tanker into about a 12 foot by 12 foot pad and then rotate around until tanker is facing the other way. The problem with that is the tanker tandems had to spin in place, there was a ravine of about 300 to 400 foot drop below it. So if you screwed it up over you go. At the age I was then I was not man enough to deal with that ravine it wasnt for me. Rock crawling too.

I understand the milk industry has gone to long haul mega milking outfits today. But thats one of the reasons why we enjoyed our time with the routes we had in our day. The kids at school in Baltimore will get their milk next day out of the Cloverland soon enough.
