I really like your AutoCar and if you have access to an old school (probably retired) mechanic for a few tips, I think you really will also. I owned a big Cummins in a late 80’s 379 and it treated me well, but I didn’t know enough about running a successful truck then to be of much help to you. I do remember having a lot of fun with it running hard with the bull haulers. I also like your house and I am betting you have this trucking gig figured out to allow much success. Just a hunch.
I am anxious to see your rig progress as you fix it up.

I sure appreciate the compliment. I am excited about this truck and will share pictures of it's progress. It just surprises me how many people don't know anything about a Autocar.

I am very particular about what trucks I like.

But that truck is really sharp. I liked them from the first time I saw them.

And there is nothing like a nice big cam.

One of my first commercial driving jobs was at a ready-mix company. They had one really nice Brockway and a fairly nice AutoCar and several FWD all wheel drives. I did my best to get to drive one or another as I wasn’t permanently assigned a rig since I worked part time as a side job. Neither one of the trucks was fancy, but there was something different about driving them in my mind compared to the other rigs.

Now them Brocks, they have a personality. I tell you your grandchildren will be running them long after you are gone. They are that tough.

A-cars were right up at the top of the line back then. I am not sure why, probably something to do with marketing, but it always seemed to be that the heavy spec models were more popular than trucks with road specs.
I was never however a fan of the 475 big cams, and even less so now. I do know of a couple that are still running every day though.

I’ve been back here 5 times, to look at that Truck!! It’s an amazing find. I looked for one in the late 90s, never could find one. Very rare. I never noticed the sleeper door location, on them. Ever figure out suspension, has to be Neway or Hendrickson. More pics, if possible.

What's a "Marion"? You mean Marmon? Those "Mormon" trucks, we called them. I drove one for a friend, it was a neat truck.
