How are you all liking fuel hauling? I really want to switch and get away from bumping docks and dealing with Walmart’s and warehouse loading crews.

Tanker all day compared to dry van. I've hauled it all from oil, chem, fuel and cryo. Every one of these tanker gigs I'd take over regular freight all day. This is from a driver who got his start in a mega fleet. I tried FedEx ground, and lastly a mom and pop local hauler before going into tankers. Now home every day paid by the hour and am clearing well over a 100k this year.

Seems like a choice gig once you get into any segment of it. I'm still counting pennies on the food grade side of things and just waiting for the right moment and position to get on to. Lots of old timers and such in my line of hauling that shake like chandeliers in an earthquake when you mention anything regarding HAZMat to them. But I just let it go in one ear and out the other.

No comparison. If you get a tanker job you'll wonder why you ever pulled anything else.
LOL...I've said this to every prospective tanker driver on here but one of the nicest things about tanker work is that whoever you're hauling to is usually glad to see you.

Thanks for the replies. There are a couple of local gas haulers in my area hiring. They do local gas stations.

Give it a try. If for some reason you don't like it you can always go back to vans.
    But I'll bet you don't.;)

I just want to throw it out there, no job is perfect. There are a few threads on here about hauling fuel day to day, all of them have good info. My absolute favorite thing with hauling fuel is that you load and unload yourself.
