I miss the 1950's, also known as the greatest generation. I don't think it has anything to do with trucking though. Things have changed and it has penetrated every aspect of society. Some for good, some for bad.

What I mean is that it is nothing special to trucking. Everything has gone down in terms of society. It may be worse in trucking just because there is not much accountability. Drivers don't have to worry about what they look like or do, because tomorrow they will be somewhere else and nobody will know who he/she is.

But to many, going back to the good ole' days means going back to when truckers were all mostly part of the same crowd in terms of looks, likes, background, etc.

I think there should be a distinction between the "new breed" debate and the "lazy slobs" debate. There is some overlap, but not as much as you would be led to believe here.

I don't consider all new drivers to be "new breed". When I say new breed I use it as negetive reference to these guys that don't have any personal hygene or manners, That don't have any common courtesy, That seem to think that because they went to school and learned how to pass a test that they know all there is to know about the industry, That walk around with this weird attitude that because they are out here they are entitled to some special treatment, That walk aroud in an idiot daze with their earbuds jammed in their ears instead of joining the community of drivers that could help them get better at their craft and a long list of other issues that seperate the "new breed" from the "real deal".

Thanks for the clarification. I don't mind being criticized because of all my electronic gear, listening to different music, not turning on my cb, or driving a Freightliner. But I am clean and can't remember the last time I was late on a load.

Why can't we just go back to 70's or 80's? The trucking industry I grew up in is dead and gone, and I missed it, born to late!

I'm not prone to violence, but I would like to kick the legs out from under the next block-headed piece of eurotrash I see washing their feet in a sink at the TA.

Remember when it was hard to get into trucking? Once upon a time you had
to have an "in" Now they'll take the scum of the earth!

I blame trucking company ceo's, lawyer's, Do-gooders', Mad mother's, and politicians. May they rot in hell!

Where's my k100 and bottle of benny's? This sucks!

Sorry, I just needed to vent!

I get a feeling, and it probably won't be in our lifetime, where the highways will be like survival of the fittest. Then we'll all really be able to have it out and see who is left standing. That's probably some time from now, but that day is coming I believe.
