everybody knows walmart is the best job for company drivers - that is not the news. But it is impossible to get hired by them, especially now.

No, we can't have other trucks towed off the property but if an outside carrier truck blocks the dock, you can #### well guarantee that store manager will have it towed. He's the only one with that authority.

Wal*Mart is phasing out most of the moving vans due to expense. They will keep some for short moves but will use outfits like Mayflower for long distances. Normally they're staffed by senior drivers. They are used to move managers and drivers transferring into a new facility.

For the past year there has been a company wide hiring freeze for drivers, but once the economy picks up and we take over more grocery warehouses, I guarantee they'll be hiring.

Since you are close to the Raymond DC, I suggest you go in person to the main entrance of the warehouse and ask to have someone from dispatch bring you out an application. That's how it works at my office.

I just completed a load assignment as a private carrier. I guess they just started using PAM and its affiliates. I worked out of the Ottawa KS DC. I really liked how they D&H everything. No bills to be signed no wait for a load, Telephonic dispatch. I clocked 844 miles over the weekend without breaking my neck to squeeze it within the 11/14 rules. All the drivers I met were really nice and when you passed them they all waived. Oh and the good part was the free water at the dispatch center. It said take only 3 or 4 bottles, I think I got a 12 pack at least. I am not far from the Tobyhanna DC. The next time I get a load to there I will be trying to get an application. I as well as 8 other drivers just completed the load assignment and we are all sitting at a TA in the middle of nowhere doing what? WAITING FOR A LOAD.

I was surely spoiled this weekend.
