Hi guys. I’m new here so I hope this is an appropriate question. I’ve pulled step and oversized for years. I’m now looking to move into the rgn market. With that said I’m seriously looking at the rampant 40 ton. I was wondering if anyone had any firsthand experience with this brand? It will mostly be used for tall crated machinery. And some tracked equipment. Any useful information would be appreciated. Thank you.

Heres my 2 cents, as I'm buying an RGN as well.
Yes it's cheap, but it's cheap for a reason.
If you will be pulling it daily, are you prepared to pay for frame welding every couple months? Are you prepared to have your insurance deny a claim because of faulty equipment?
Are you prepared to lose loads because things break?
Rampant offers a 1 year warranty.
So yea that 60k sounds great, but how much are you going to have to spend in year 2 or 3 or 4?
Buy a better quality used trailer. If you arent financing, buy a 90s trailer for 10k and spend 30k having it reconditioned.Upinsmoke Thanks this. -
Thank you rolling thunder vet. I was unaware of any frame cracking that may be associated with the rampant trailer. I’ve tried to do research on them but haven’t found much info on the brand. I’ve looked at the used market and I agree there are some that would be worth buying and reworking. What brands are you looking at?
Upinsmoke Thanks this. -
Good
Fontaine, talbert, liddell, landoll, kayln seibert, XL
Best
Aspen, cozad, murray, trail king
These brands will be better at 20 yrs old than many off brands will be at 5 years.Upinsmoke and Landincoldfire Thank this. -
Thank you very much. I’m just getting started in researching different rgn brands. I’ll check into those that you recommended. I’ve always bought step decks so this is a different world for me. Thank you for your advice. I’m hoping to find a lot of information on this forum.

What about a load king trailer? How come they aren’t on the list?

Never seen a Murray, I have seen a cozad. Both times in TX. From what I have seen they are highly regarded. -
