Newby questions; sorry.
How hard is it to find a top-notch 40' GN trailer that keeps the max truck/trailer length within 65'? Would it take a special order to keep the gooseneck about a half-foot shorter?
Admittedly I haven't done much research yet or made any phone calls to the manufacturers. But from what I have came across, it looks like the Ford Super Duty Crew Cabs like I will use (2010) would have about a 6" over-length problem with a stock long-bed installed.
Thanks for any advice!

Remove the truck bed, that would make it a “tractor”.

Is your truck 25 feet long.
I don't even think my w900 is 25 feet long.D.Tibbitt, Bean Jr., Lite bug and 1 other person Thank this. -
I believe but could be wrong that TX has a 60' length restriction on any truck with a bed hauling a trailer, and is pretty serious about enforcing it.
Edit: I am wrong.Bean Jr. Thanks this. -

All you standard 53 ft van trailers with standard fleet trucks measure 65 ft. Give or take. Could be less now with the closed gap between truck and trailer.

I've seen in some forums that Ford longbed trucks have about a six inch length problem when pulling a 40' GN trailer. So I'm trying to figure out how hard it will be to find one with a slightly shorter gooseneck. Without having to special order one.
Thanks.snowwy Thanks this. -
17 / 1/2 plus length of trailer minus however much hangs over back of truck.
You shouldn't be longer then a standard semi with a van trailer.
