I guess I'll jump in, as a Transportation (linehaul) driver with Dayton Freight. Last Friday was my final check for the 2019 YTD number and I made a little over $96,200. It would've been a little better had I taken a bid run last January, but I chose to bid open for the 1st 6 months for some reason (we bid twice per year). It was pretty slow for our open drivers for most of the 1st half of 2019, so I decided to take an easy 500-mile run in July. That helped make up for the slow start of the year.

The bid I just took for the first half of this year made my buddy $105k last year. We had some movement on our board with some higher mileage runs added so a lot of us are moving up this year. Now the challenge is to be responsible with the extra income!

    Happy New Year, y'all.

Yes, deductions ouch! But I am systems (unassigned driver no bid) and still going through wage progression, claim married and 0 for taxes so hopefully I don't owe at end of year, and take almost every every benefit offered (life insurance, ADD,LTD, ect) except for maybe 1 or 2, because I don't want to leave my wife hanging if I croak or get killed on the job, here was my net. Dayton is one of the non-union companies I hold in VERY high regard.

That's mainly what kills it for me, I am not even top scale yet, but that's not it, it's that slow time where I get bit, the run cuts and shorter miles, can't do nothing about it, however I am still pleased because honestly I netted more at this job than I grossed at a job I had two years ago.

It's all about improvement. Each year better than the last, unless you are in a position to take a break.

No break yet lol, two main goals now, is make top scale and a bid run, but who knows when the latter will happen, main thing is so far I am hanging in there with systems so things are good, now if by the time I am 50 and I am still on systems, well then I may have to reconsider a life and career change lol.
