You might as well save the old song about govt a free loan. What I am getting at my bank in interest is about 1 % and that was after years of .30% Essentially nothing.

    brsims and Upinsmoke Thank this.

I keep sending IFTA money to CA, but I never see the roads getting any better.

Also heard the CA govt raised the fuel taxes again, but would like to see a breakdown of where that money goes.

One of the reasons I believe I was successful as an OO for over 4 decades was a great reasonable accountant. Paid taxes quarterly, but never overpaid. Took every legal deduction, and stretched them a lot to their limit, but always legal. Audited once, came out clean.
I've always been a believer that you need to find the right person, when you can't do something yourself, never was a paperwork person. Remember that old death and taxes thang, you can't eff with the federal government. Now happily, and comfortably retired.

Yep! Fully qualified, licensed, and accredited or whatever accountants use.

I'm using the same firm several other businesses locally use. Well known locally, very respected.

    Upinsmoke Thanks this.

In all but 8 states the road tax money goes into the General Fund that pays for everything. In the other 8? states road taxes can only be spent on roads and related items. Some years here they will repave the roads whether they need it or not.

Put your cash in an online FDIC insured savings account like with Ally Bank. They are paying about 2%. As long as your balance stays under $250K you are protected.

Getting organized is usually not the problem, keeping it organized is....Having a good CPA is a must, and the better organized you are makes their job a lot easier, and easier on your wallet.
