    Hello All,
I am interested in acquiring a CDL for Hotshot Trucks (Heavy Duty Pick-Up Truck with fifth wheel Gooseneck) if anyone knows where I could take the test/train for this License in the combination described above, that would be great. I am hoping to know if there are schools or private trainers in NJ, PA, & DE area that do the training and use the truck for testing, if there is a person who is willing to rent a truck and train that would be great also.

    Thanks

Not saying there isn't any, but never heard of such a thing. I would just train for a cdl and get one, it will be good for a hotshot too.

You either get class a tractor-trailer or do non CDL hot shot

Thanks for the response, in southern states they have training for such vehicles and is in good demand, because I am thinking why I should take in a Tractor Trailer when I can take it in a HD Pick-Up with a large gooseneck both exceeding 26,001 lbs.

    Thanks for the reply.
The Hot Shot would exceed 26,000 lbs. and would require CDL Class A with LO Restriction.
I am looking to haul my own things and work for hire with others.

I do not know for sure, but chances are it would cost the same or very close to it, and the class A cdl would be a much more versatile license , plus you may eventually want or need one, and would basically have to start over.

If you can't rent one cheap or borrow one only way is probably through class a school
Also you have to get a little bit experience before buying your own unless you want to pay 50000 insurance

    Thanks for the reply.
I am looking for a school on the NJ PA DE area that will do the training/testing, the company I work for has a ford F350 that pulls a dolly, however the combination is rated at 20,000 lbs. and none of the employees have a class A CDL. If you know anyone who lives in the above mentioned states who is willing to allow me to train/test in rented HD Pick-Up Truck and Trailer exceeding 26,000 lbs. that would be great.

Have you figured out how much your first year of insurance is going to cost?

    Thanks for the reply,
You are right one the CDL class A being versatile, however for now I'm looking for getting Class A CDL with LO Restriction, once I cross that bridge for a full un-restricted CDL class A then I will decide.
