I'm curious how can I stay in shape OTR. I'm in decent shape and I don't wanna get what's known as a typical truckers body ( No Offense). Any drivers in here who work out while driving?

You may find a decent workout difficult to squeeze in, should be able to find time to run a bit though which will keep the fat at bay for the most part.

The most important thing, in my opinion, is to give yourself the time to cook a good dinner every night while laying off too many snacks during the day.

When I was learning to drive. There was part of the course that taught us how to stay in shape (mind you I am not in shape at all). All the videos said? Park furthest from the showers and walk there. I even have a small certificate that is supposed to be worth something when applying for work. Just a piece of paper to me.

It good exercise to park in the back parking lot and walk to shower or bathroom. When it's snowing and say -10 it real good exercise and it fun ! In the summer you can smell the piss on the parking lot. Nothing like smelling piss on a hot summer day !

If you got the time to exercise you can, but remember you have to deliver the load not only on time, you have do running legally. You have ELD(Electric Logging Device) your log book. You can't move the truck more then 5MPH today without logging something.

So you will have drive 400-600 miles a day plus get your work out and get a place to park for 10 hours. You can't move the truck once you work your 14 hour day. You have a 14 hour working day limit. If you start a 7am you have be parked by 9pm. No matter what happens. I drove 330 miles the other day and it took 13.5 hour because of loading and unloading the trailer. Taking a shower at truck stop can take 1 hour. I just had to wait 45 minutes to even get a shower because the waiting line had 6 driver in front of me waiting for showers

I can do a decent workout in 20-30 mins doing calistenics and dumbbells and it would only be 3-4 times a week. I know I won't be MR Olympia but I feel I don't have to be unhealthy either

Your choice of foods is step 1.

Creativity and discipline will be step 2.

Posting a thread a year from now detailing your truckstop workout and your successful results is step 3.

    Focus on step 1.

Some of the TA/Petro truck stop have a work out room. Maybe someone on here does work out. Trucking is a full 14 hour a day job. Then you get 10 hours off.
