Many PFJs stopped treating their winter fuel. I’ve never had trouble with diesel gelling until last year when it happened twice (even while using PowerService, what a sham). It’s been hovering around zero here, and my fuel suction gauge has been getting above 10”hg when normally it’s 5 or below. I think they’re no longer putting additive in the fuel so then you have to spend $25 a fill up doing it yourself. If I can’t put in some #1 then I’ll use an additive.. that isn’t power service.

Man 17 below is serious. Some drivers split the bottle of additive between the two tanks. In those conditions, one bottle per tank after fueling I find to be effective

I woke up in Rawlins WY this morning and it was -3 outside. I rarely come this far east in the winter, but the thought of my tanks gelling up kept me awake so I idled at high RPM for a good 20 minutes before going to bed, and woke up 7 hours later and did it again. No problems. I was curious if reefer tanks recirculate the fuel to warm it up. I ran my reefer all night. Those reefer tanks hang low and are exposed to the cold. Just curious.
