I am on track to make $42,000 my first year of having my CDL as a oilfield hotshot driver.
I'm on call 24/7 with every other weekend off.
Does this seem like decent pay for first year with no experience? I'm really ready to earn more money because it his hard to survive off of $42,000/year. I just understand that I have to put my time in before I can move up.
First year pay

You could have started out at $55K - $60K with other companies.

This is from your other thread; what happened?
I've been bringing home $1,000-$1,200 every Friday and that's only being out 2 nights a week on average. I've only been out of CDL school for 6 months.rachi and BigDog Trucker Thank this. -
I was making that, then the work just started slowing down..it's been really up and down lately and being paid % of the load sucks when that happens. Part of the oilfield though! -

It could always be worse.

Most people look at pay.
Almost no one looks at expenses. As long your costs (Home, wife, kids, personal eating etc) is less than what you make you are or should be stacking money.Bro_Dave Thanks this. -
A while back, I was looking to increase my earnings and @Chinatown recommended cryogenics. I made the move from foodservice delivery. I had no tanker experience, and no cryogenic experience but my new company gave me all the training I needed. Chinatown was right and I’ve not had a regret since. I know there’s plenty of Air separation units (where they process the product) in Oklahoma. I honestly believe that the OP could double his salary. (But they don’t give it away). Take a look at Air Products, Air Gas, Messer, and others. It’s been good for me!
