And there it is.
Btw, There’s nothing illegal about it. It’s SOP in recycling and chemical sales. Perfect example, I’m a supplier who sells a chemical to company A. Company A doesn’t buy enough product to get any sort of discount, but I buy 500,000 gals a year (or more), so I get a nice discount. I then sell the chemical to smaller companies and make the difference as profit. Maybe I buy from Exxon or Dow, but I don’t want customer A to know this, so I create a BOL in my name as the supplier. It’s basically drop shipping, but on a larger scale.
Double blind shipment

Company A buys and sells (sometimes modifying) a certain material from company B.
If company A sells a load of unmodified material to company C to be delivered to a job site 100 miles north of company A but 75 miles south of company B. What’s company A to do?
They could ship the load from their yard then order a load to replace it from company B, or have said load delivered straight to company C’s jobsite from company B. If company A chooses the latter they they make a higher profit over the former ( not to mention less emissions and wasted fuel). To keep company C from finding out where company A gets their material and potentially losing company C’s business (or at least part of it) they need to do a blind load. Company B knows the load for company A is going to company C’s jobsite and puts such info on BOL, carrier ME (who was hired by company A) makes another BOL to give to company C showing the load originated at company A’s yard. This way company C doesn’t know about company B.
So in this example what is unethical or not legit? Where is the cover up for a previous mistake? What laws were circumvented?
If you tell your customers how to make make your business obsolete and save them money chances are they will do so and you will no longer be in business.

Any officer that uses bol times as proof will be doing no more than annoying a judge when the citation is fought.Coffey Thanks this. -
Some may remember loading produce with the BOL's ship to the buyer with no idea where you were going. Head east on 80 or 40 and call in the morning. Make up new BOL's and deliver to whomever the produce buyer sold it to.
