    Here's the riddle folks -

    '95 Pete 379

    12.7 Detroit.

3 temp sender positions on rear of head, passenger side. From L to R . . .

1 - ECM- reads 175 over scan guage.
2 - High temp alarm sender
3 - Sender to dash guage.

The dash guage was reading low (150) or only reading once temp was 170 or above, or randomly cutting out.

I thought - "Sender must be giving out, replace"

    Peterbilt part # - 144561

Now dash guage reads 200 when ECM reads 175. What gives?

I know - it's a small anomalie, but - when my eye catches the guage, every time the brain freaks out, because it's used to seeing it read accurately. And - what good are gauges, if they don't record accurate info?

My small brain is boggled. Is the guage calibrateable? Is there an inline resistor to adjust? Old sensor was intermittent, but accurate - now new sensor is consistently WRONG.

CASE OF BEER FOR CORRECT ANSWER!!

Yeah there's not much out of AZ and what there is, those shippers know it will go cheap and fast.

From what I can tell Cali isn't looking too hot right now either, but things can change out there real fast. Still a lot better than AZ. Sometimes there's high dollar loads out of Vegas going in then start looking for eastbound.

But if you made good enough coin going out, I would either head to El Paso now or maybe give it till midmorning then pull stakes. Give El Paso a day then head to OKC.

Back when I was still nice, I took a good load to Pueblo. Got empty and and started looking for a load. Sat overnight. The next afternoon, I decided to bounce back to Texas. Dispatcher begged me to do her a favor and pull a load from Pueblo to Dallas. I get to this place and they scaled me empty, loaded 11 slinkies on and scaled me again. Lady comes out of the office yelling...

Lady: You need to call your dispatcher! You need to call your dispatcher!
Six (big smile):Why do I need to call my dispatcher?
Lady: Because you’re 500 lbs over gross!

(at that very moment, the phone rings...it’s my travel agent. News travels fast!)

Dispatch: How much can you scale? How much fuel do you have on?
Six (laughing...I do that when I realize that I’m about to get porked by a dispatcher that begged me to do a favor): This load doesn’t pay enough money to worry about what I can scale and how much fuel I have on. They put 11 of these things on. Either they’re going to take 1 off or they’re gonna take all of them off.

(While I am on the phone with the travel agent, this lady is standing there yelling at me)

Lady: WE ARE NOT GONNA CUT THAT ORDER! NOT CUTTING THAT ORDER!!! NOT CUTTING THAT ORDER!!!!!!!!!!!

At that moment, I realized that my dispatcher doesn’t care about me or whether or not I make money or get a ticket or anything. And here I was taking this load as a ‘favor.’ You're on your own, Six....handle your business.

Six (very calm, very kind voice): Hold on one moment...
    Dispatch: Waitaminute, Six! WAIT!!!!

    (play time is over)

Six: Hey, I’m back. What were you saying?
    Dispatch: I can’t believe you did that....<click>

Hit me like a ton of bricks today, it's hard to make my job exciting.

It was very apropos that my parents got me a coffee mug for Christmas that says:

"Some days, the best part of my job is that my chair spins"

El Paso would not hurt too bad. 310 miles. Still keep the rate good.
Yeah, that $1.44 to Brownsville wasn't doing me any favors. Thinking freight would be trash there too..

Probably do the mid morning deal. My chick wants one more crack at finding something because we done well up till today..

    Thanks for the pointers!
