Need help understanding the 2/8 split. I posted my log for today. I'm taking 8 in sleeper right now. After my 8 I should get back the time before the 2 hr off/sb? The tomorrow I take a 2 hr and I'll get the time back before my 8 hr?

Split Sleeper Simplified
- 8 hours (must be in the sleeper) pauses your 14
- 2 hours does not pause your 14
- the two break periods (8 and 2) can be taken in any order
- the two work periods on either side of either break, added together, cannot exceed your 11/14/70
- When using the split-break you enter into a cycle of
work | rest1 | work | rest2 | work | rest1 | work | rest2 | work, etc.,until you return to a "normal" schedule by way of a 10-hour continuous rest or 34-hour reset.

Yes you are correct on the time you get back. An 8 only counts if it is 8 consecutive sleeperberth so that half hour off duty doesn't count.

That works.

If that was PC then there is nothing marking it as such on that example.
Straight 8 then 2 equals ten. I generally do not split logs myself. Just in for a penny and spend a pound.Trucker61016 Thanks this. -

I use the split berth quite often in order to switch my driving from days to nights or vis-versa, without loosing to much travel time....
Drive half a day, take 8 hr SB, hit the road at night, take 2 hr break when I run out of time, drive into the morning finishing off my clock once again. Then resume 10 hr breaks.
Doing this my arrival time is only delayed by a maximum of 2 hrs, and still allows me to switch to the time of day I prefer to drive.Bean Jr. Thanks this. -
I didn't get it .....can we start at the top again with a complete and thorough reading of the safety scripture commandments as presribed and provided by the most holy and safe ones on high who have never even slept in a sleeper birth and have no Idea how noisy your apu and reefer were when you parked next to me when I was hoping you wouldn't?
Trucker61016 Thanks this.
