Geuss my 2nd biggest question is with all these trucking schools spitting out newbee's(I'm one of them) are they getting the miles over the more experienced more expensive payed drivers? Thats the idea of most companies, if its to expensive, get rid of it. I started with Werner Enterprises, big mistake-they promised .26 solo, after training it turned out to be teaming for splitting .28cpm, I was on diem so that killed it to .13cpm, I read a rip off report that said the farther you go the cpm drops? Anyway, do the newer drivers get the miles vs the older ones?:biggrin_25510:

We do at Prime - lots of miles to go around for old and new!

    Ouch!!! 13 cpm???!!! :biggrin_25512:

That's what we pay our more experienced trainees. Get a years experience over there, and then come on over. Lots of miles solo here - not sure where you'd start, but 36 cpm is certainly ballpark. Google the corporate website - that'd be Prime Inc. - and get ahold of a recruiter!

that just sounds crazy. I dont believe that the older more experience drivers would get less miles. It just dont sound right to me. That may be the case with the companies involved with schools. Idk. Im new to all of this so dont get upset with my post. I guess I dont want to hear it or believe it with me just getting started in this career. lol Ya know what I mean.

Holy mother of God...13 cpm? You could do ANY job and make more than that, and be home. I started at 30 cpm and I thought that was crappy.

Actually after I found this out, Werner told me if I lived in Ohio I could solo. The recruiter for some odd reason refused to get back to me after that statement! I read more rip-off reports, Werner has a track record for this action on newbies. Currently I'm attempting to go into nursing, I take state test next month. Only problem is in Michigan there are so many people already in nursing that you have to be experienced to get work! Unfortunately I'm not the cream of the crop. I've been off since April-OUCH- I'm giving it a month after I get my state license to find work. In the mean-time I'm getting my hazmat and credentials for Canada travel, just in case I have to go back on the road.

The only way to make money in that situation is if you constantly run 6000 miles a week. Thats cheap labor! :biggrin_25510:

13 cpm? I'd rather have my teeth extracted by way of my arse. I did start at 26 with swift, but you got 5 raises in your first year, and by the time I quit after 6 months I was already at 30cpm. Still not great, but decent enough... except the miles weren't there. Was good enough to get my foot in the door though.

I have heard of some companies flat out getting rid of there experienced drivers making .40 or more a mile all together because they make more money having newbies deliver the loads and if they pay the driver less they can haul freight cheaper and underbid other companies.
